Nurse Educator, Oncology (RN)

  • Position will provide oncology education to a 23 bed inpatient mixed hematological malignancy, surgical and medical oncology unit as well as a 34 chair outpatient infusion center
  • Primary responsibilities include: serving as a clinical resource for both inpatient and outpatient units, rounding on patients, troubleshooting clinical issues, symptom management, serving on and attending committee meetings, ensuring policies and procedures are up to date, collaborating with the education team, providing resources to improve patient care, and ensuring competencies are current
  • Will work very closely with nursing leadership and physicians in a collegial and collaborative atmosphere
  • Position reports to a dynamic and collaborative Director of Nursing Practice and Education

Nursing Educator, Oncology (RN) Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Nursing required (MSN) or must be willing to obtain
  • RN Active License District of Columbia
  • Previous or current Oncology Charge Nurse or Resource Nurse experience is desirable
  • Vascular access and solid tumor nursing experience is preferred
  • At least five (5) years of Oncology related hospital based nursing experience
  • Experience with hands on patient care, especially with hematologic malignancies and solid tumor areas
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels
