Nealy Pierce has been retained by Benefis Healthcare, a prominent and growing 530-bed not-for-profit health system, to assist in the recruitment of a Nurse Manager for their Progressive Cardiovascular Unit. This unit is a 4-pod, 33-bed Unit with all private rooms on the same floor of a brand new tower that sees a combination of Nuero Trauma and Cardiovascular Step Down patients coming out of the ICU.  This unit typically sees an ADC of 31-32 patients and is one of the busiest units in the hospital and cares for open heart patients, vented patients, neuro patients and is supported by Cardiologists and Hospitalists.  The Nurse Manager will be supported by multiple Assistant Nurse Managers and a Unit Based Educator with 62 FTEs maintaining a 4:1 ratio of patients to nurses at all times.

They are looking for a transformational leader who will bring new ideas focused on best practices, core measures, and improving patient and employee satisfaction.  This unit has an incredibly strong team of staff nurses and providers with a great working relationship and a great reputation within the organization. This leader will be mentored by the Director of Critical Care and will be groomed as her replacement as part of their succession planning efforts.

Progressive Care Unit Manager Requirements:

  •  Operational experience as a Charge Nurse or Assistant Nurse Manager required
  •  Operational experience as a Nurse Manager preferred
  •  Strong critical care or progressive care background as a staff nurse
  •  Ability to delegate daily operations, provide vision, motivation and mentorship to the unit staff
  •  Strong physician relationship skill set
  •  Associate Degree in Nursing required, Bachelors <x{(}>(BSN) preferred
